Born in Scotland, Doogie Mustard is a progressive-house DJ, curator and radio host with more than three decades behind the decks. He began mixing at just 14, learning the craft on belt-drive turntables without pitch control before progressing to Technics SL-1200s. A formative chapter saw him spend several years touring with Scottish techno act Bass Reaction, best known for the rave-era anthem “Technophobia.” His musical direction crystallised after hearing Anthony Pappa’s Global Underground: Nubreed 001—a pivotal influence that drew him towards progressive house and helped shape the deep, patient and immersive approach he brings to every set.
For Doogie, a mix is never simply a sequence of tracks; it is a carefully constructed narrative. Rolling basslines, hypnotic vocals, expansive melodies, incisive synth work and driving percussion are layered into journeys that move naturally between atmospheric restraint and peak-time intensity. The influence of Global Underground and Renaissance can be heard in the structure, patience and emotional progression of his sets, yet his selections remain firmly contemporary—connecting progressive house’s classic sense of journey with the weight and precision of the modern dance floor.
Beyond the booth, Doogie is the founder of the Progressive Epidemic community and host of the monthly Progressive Epidemic show on Saturo Sounds. Broadcasting every fourth Thursday, the programme combines his own carefully curated sets with selected guest artists and recurring SPOTLIGHT, RELEASED and REVOLVE editions—giving underground producers, independent labels and forthcoming music a dedicated platform. He has also held a residency with Progressive House UK, while his work with Midnight Express FM and an ongoing schedule of guest mixes continue to broaden his international reach.
