Slovenian DJ, producer and label founder Alex Nemec has been sculpting immersive techno and progressive house since he first stepped behind the decks in Nova Gorica in 1998. As one half of trail‑blazing duo Alex & Filip he built a prolific catalogue on Tronic, Respekt, Baroque, Freshin, Flow Vinyl, Lowbit and MUM, earning regular support from John Digweed, Tiësto, Dubfire and Adam Beyer. His early sets blended tribal rhythms with emerging progressive melodies, securing residencies at venues across Slovenia by the turn of the millennium and laying the groundwork for a career that would soon break beyond national borders.

Following the duo’s amicable split in 2012, Nemec forged a solo path that now counts 120‑plus tracks and remixes on Beatport across labels including his own Mirabilis, Bush, Bonzai Progressive, Stripped Digital, Natura Viva, Sounds of Earth and Se‑Lek Musik. Recent highlights span the hypersonic Mission to Mars EP with Nik Feral on Compatible Musicand the 2021 remix package of U Can’t Stop Me on Rejekt Music. His solo output also features collaborations with Christian Monique, Gux Jimenez and remixes for Robert Babicz, broadening his stylistic reach while keeping a relentless focus on the dance floor.

Nemec’s passion for unearthing and nurturing talent is channelled through Mirabilis Records, the imprint he founded in 2009. The catalogue—supported by Sasha, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Henry Saiz—has evolved into a tastemaker hub, complemented by the globally syndicated Mirabilis Radio show, where he blends upfront promos with timeless classics and spotlights emerging producers. The show’s syndication stretches from Ibiza Sonica to Proton Radioand FRISKY, reinforcing Nemec’s standing as a trusted curator for the global progressive underground.

A consummate DJ, Alex continues to ignite floors across Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria—most recently at EXIT Festival and the iconic Ambasada Gavioli—sharing stages with Umek, Johannes Heil, Petar Dundov, Satoshi Tomiie and Desyn Masiello, while forthcoming dates in Berlin and Barcelona underline his expanding international footprint. He also holds a long‑running Kathisma residency on Italy’s Adriatic coast, a testament to his enduring crowd‑pulling power. Twenty‑seven years on, his mission remains unchanged: to move minds and dance floors with music that fuses raw rhythm, hypnotic melody and narrative flow.
